Travertine Technologies scientists and engineers have developed a solution to reduce the environmental impact of mining and refining a critical US mineral, phosphate. Phosphate production in Florida is a key industry for the United States, but more than 1 billion tons of phosphogypsum have been accumulated in giant industrial piles called gyp stacks. These deposits grow by 30 million tons per year and represent a historic environmental challenge. The Travertine Process recycles the phosphogypsum into essential materials that can be reused in the chemical and building materials industries.
