Clean Energy Ventures announced a $3 million seed funding round for Travertine, a startup developing an electrochemical process that simultaneously removes atmospheric CO2 and produces sulfuric acid from industrial sulfate waste. This technology aims to provide an economically viable method for carbon removal by transforming sulfate waste into valuable sulfuric acid needed for mining minerals essential to the energy transition.
