Silicon Valley is Spending $925 Million To Suck All the Carbon From the Air
Rolling Stone Magazine, April 3, 2023
Four major tech companies—Google, Facebook, Shopify, and Stripe—have established a $925 million fund named Frontier to finance companies developing technologies for direct carbon dioxide removal from the atmosphere over seven years. This initiative allows these companies to invest in the nascent carbon removal industry while working to offset their own substantial emissions. Included in the initial funding recipients is Travertine Technologies, a company that has developed a process that pairs direct air capture technology with carbon sequestration as calcium carbonate used in green concrete.
