Pilot-produced acid from Arianne and Travertine met a cathode maker’s indicative specifications, an early step toward a Canadian source for the lithium-iron-phosphate battery supply chain. Production of LFP cathode materials and their precursors is still almost entirely concentrated in China. As the West’s only permitted greenfield phosphate mine, Arianne Phosphate’s Lac à Paul project in Quebec can address the growing demand for this critical material. Arianne’s JV project with Travertine for purified phosphoric acid production utilizes the award-winning Travertine Process, which recycles greater than 95% of sulfur feedstock back into sulfuric acid for digestion of the phosphate rock.
